Abstract:
In tissue cultures of Pelargonium x domesticum 'Grand Slam', up to 16 percent of the adventitious regenerants were variants, depending on the explant origin.
No variants were detected in control stem cuttings or in vitro from nodal culture.
Genome instability in 'Grand Slam' may produce useful variation but equally mitigates against the use of adventitious regeneration in micropropagation.
