ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ON IN VIVO ROOTING OF MICROCUTTINGS OF GF 677 PEACH ROOTSTOCK

Authors:   F. Fasolo Fabbri Malavasi, R. Ranieri
Abstract:
Upon completion of in vitro, GF 677 microcuttings (INRA clonal rootstock for peach) were transferred to a rooting medium of peat plugs to investigate their in vivo rooting ability.

The effect of auxin application to microcuttings or plugs was tested. Rooting promoting substances at low concentration were not essential to, but did enhance root formation. A good development of the root system occurred in about 10–15 days. The greatest problem was found in optimizing the microclimate conditions, especially as regards to relative humidity and air exchange.
