Abstract:
With Salix babylonica cuttings cultured in vitro, the relationship between the appearance of the vitrification process and increase in the ammonium supply has been shown. Prunus, Actinidia and Ceanothus provide further examples.
Data for the characterization of glassiness are described:
- lignin content and monomeric composition;
- reduced activity of enzymes of the phenolic pathway: phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and ionic peroxidases;
- evidence for glutamate dehydrogenase polymorphism and activity.
