ISHS Acta Horticulturae 212: Symposium on In Vitro Problems Related to Mass Propagation of Horticultural Plants

VITREOUS PLANTS IN VITRO: RELATIONSHIP WITH AMMONIUM CONTENT OF THE NUTRIENT MEDIUM

Authors:   F. Daguin, R. Letouzé
Abstract:
With Salix babylonica cuttings cultured in vitro, the relationship between the appearance of the vitrification process and increase in the ammonium supply has been shown. Prunus, Actinidia and Ceanothus provide further examples. Data for the characterization of glassiness are described:
  • lignin content and monomeric composition;
  • reduced activity of enzymes of the phenolic pathway: phenylalanine ammonia-lyase and ionic peroxidases;
  • evidence for glutamate dehydrogenase polymorphism and activity.
