Abstract:
Vitreous and normal plantlets of Castanea sativa were compared at both anatomical and chemical level.
Vitrified shoots show xylen sclerenchyma tissue to be less differentiated and lignified than normal shoots, leaves are characterized by the lack of clear differentiation between the palisade and spongy mesophyll.
From chemical studies it was found that the phenolic content was lower in vitreous cultures.
