Abstract:
Adventitious leaf formation in Cyclamen persicum Mill. cv Rosamunde occured on cotyledon, tuber, petiole and root explants, though significantly more on the former two types of explants. An initial medium of 1 mg.1-1 of both BA and NAA before transfering the explants to a similar medium but with the NAA omitted, gave rise to the most number of leaves in comparison with eight other plant growth regulator combinations. The age of the seedlings that the explants were taken from was thought to influence organogenesis as well as the nutritional status of the explants. Axillary shoot proliferation was attempted but an acceptable rate of proliferation was not achieved.
