Abstract:
Seasonal production of Strelitzia flowers in Australia, South Africa, California (USA), and Hawaii (USA) was studied.
Air temperatures below 13 C retarded the rate of leaf and flower development, while temperatures above 17 C permitted faster development.
We suggest an optimum air temperature range for Strelitzia flower production to be between 17 and 27 C as other studies have associated higher temperatures with flower bud abortion.
