Abstract:
Although vegetables constitute an essential source of micro-nutrients to supplement the starch laden diets in the tropics, most developing countries assign a low priority within the already under-supported agriculture sector for vegetable production.
The Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center (AVRDC), an international research and training center dedicated to improving vegetable crops in the tropics, aids national agricultural programs to redress the lack of trained vegetable researchers and extension personnel.
AVRDC offers opportunities for advanced training in vegetable research, production, seed technology and biological pest control at AVRDC headquarters in Taiwan and at its Regional Program for Southeast Asia in Thailand.
