Abstract:
The profile method is a qualitative score method, which is developed in the Netherlands to select new commodities which are promising for horticulture.
A product profile explores systematically all aspects which play a role in cultivation and marketing of new commodities.
It has his value for individual growers, but also for research institutes to establish priorities in research programmes.
Advisory services can use the results to inform growers.
In this paper results will be presented about an investigation in vegetable crops grown under protection (glass). At present also checklists are available for commodities in the fruit sector and before long for floricultural crops.
