AN INTERACTIVE GREENHOUSE PROFITABILITY MODEL DEVELOPED FOR MICRO-COMPUTERS

Authors:   W. Timothy Rhodus, Thomas L. Prince, Reed D. Taylor
Abstract:
An interactive profitability model was developed for IBM compatible micro-computers using LOTUS 123. The model is intended to be used as a decision support tool for producers and a teaching tool for students. Budget information for various production programs can be analyzed to determine annual costs and returns on a per acre or per square foot basis. Sensitivity analysis can be performed in order to determine the impact on costs and returns of changes in such items as: crop choice, fuel rate, interest rate, and labor efficiency.
