Abstract:
The 1985 season was the first year that The Peach Report, a weekly update of the peach season, has been published.
A key element of this report is estimates of shipments from the major U.S. peach producing regions.
This review presents a graphical and analytical assessment of the success of these shipment estimates.
Estimates from the first few weeks suffered from start-up problems.
Estimates, after these initial problems were overcome, proved to be reasonably accurate.
As the actual shipment pattern became more volatile the accuracy of shipment estimates deteriorated.
