Abstract:
The utilization of ethylene as an agricultural tool has undergone considerable evolution during its nearly three quarters of a century of use.
Many of the difficulties associated with using ethylene gas have been overcome by the development of ethylene releasing and inducing compounds that are applied in an aqueous medium.
Changes in the use of ethylene, commercial application techniques, types of ethylene producing compounds and factors influencing their effectiveness, and the future prospects for the use of ethylene in agriculture are detailed in this chapter.
