Abstract:
A trial was conducted during three growing periods in El Tocuyo, Venezuela, on grapevine cv.
Cardinal that had previously shown zinc deficiency symptoms.
Vines were treated by swabbing fresh pruning cuts with zinc sulfate in one case, and Zineb fungicide in the other.
Control plants received no zinc treatment.
Yield and growth of treated vines were significantly greater than those of the untreated ones, but there was no appreciable difference between zinc sulfate and Zineb.
Zinc content of petioles at harvest time was slightly lower in control plants than in treated ones.
