Abstract:
Root dips, an alternative to conventional plant starters for field setting tomato transplants resulted in better plant survival than if plants were field set dry from plants stored 3 to 6 days after arriving in Ontario from Georgia.
None of the plants stored for 12 days survived.
There were no significant differences (statistically) among root dip treatments if planted immediately after arrival.
In a second experiment dipping roots in the different starter solutions for 30 to 60 minutes improved survival of tomato transplants.
