Abstract:
The major aim of this project is the development of an efficient selection procedure at cellular level for the production of low-temperature tolerant (LTT) mutants of Chrysanthemum morifolium.
For that purpose three early flowering, two average flowering mutants of cv.
Parliament were selected on clonal basis and used for further characterization.
These eight selections were cultured in vitro under long day conditions at 8°C, 12°C and 17°C. No significant differences were found for leaf-proline content and percentage of dry matter.
Two mutants showed a larger increase in height at 12°C. All three LTT mutants had a distinctive leaf colour that differed from that of the other selections.
