Abstract:
Disease results from the interaction of four principal components : a crop, the farmer, a pathogen and the environment.
Pathosystems analysis identifies the main, and interaction components of the disease, facilitating the development of a holistic disease control programme.
Analysis of the Natal crucifer blackleg pathosystem reveals a complex relationship of the components, and identifies optimal disease control strategies.
This particular pathosystem analysis provides a comprehensive model for most other crucifer diseases, and of several other vegetable diseases.
