THE SUSCEPTIBILITY OF SOME PLUM CULTIVARS TO PLUM POX VIRUS

Abstract:
During a period of five years the susceptibility of 37 plum cultivars to plum pox has been tested under field conditions. Concerning the intensity of fruit symptoms, the cultivars could be divided into four groups:

Very severe symptoms: "Grove's Late Victoria", "Victoria", "Zimmers Frühzwetsche"

Severe symptoms : "Ariel", "Auerbacher", "Early Laxton", "Ersinger Frühzwetsche", "Hauszwetsche", "Italienische Zwetsche", "Laxton's Cropper", "Lützelsachser Frühzwetsche", "Severn Cross", "Wangenheims Frühzwetsche"

Mild symptoms : "Anna Späth", "Borsumer", "Bühler Frühzwetsche", "Burbank", "Cambridge Gage", "Grobe Grüne Reneklode", "Marjorie's Seedling", "President", "Sanctus Hubertus", "Warwickshire Drooper"

Without symptoms : "Abundance", "Bluefre", "Chrudimer", "Czernowitzer", "Methley", "Mirabelle von Nancy", "Monsieur Hatif", "Ontario", "Opal", "Oullins Reneklode", "Ruth Gerstetter", "Stanley", "The Czar".
