Abstract:
Dieback of plum trees, infected by plum pox virus, was observed both in natural and experimental conditions.
Such varieties as Italian Prune, Moldavian Early, Goldan Black, Dorita, Voloshko, infected artificially, died quickly (100% during 4 years). Naturally infected trees died considerably slower and the trees of September Prune (Sentjabrajskaja) are affected more often.
In the hybrid orchard the increase of number of affected trees occurred in such families, where one of the parents was the variety of Italian Prune.
Woody and herbaceous indicators and ELISA-test showed that only Plum pox virus was present in affected trees.
