PREMATURE APOPLEXY OF APRICOT TREES IN ARMENIA

Author:   M.N. Harutiunian
Abstract:
In the last two decades a dangerous disease - apoplexy has developed in the Armenian SSR, especially in the submountain zone of the republic.

On the grounds of our investigations a system of arrangements has been suggested for preventing the premature apoplexy of apricot trees by the following agrotechnical measures: to use young trees from wild or own root as seedling stocks, to eliminate injuries of root necks or other parts of seedlings, to avoid transplanting young trees on lower parts of slopes. For the elimination of contact between the root necks of the trees with water a new diffusive method of irrigation must be applied. It is necessary to avoid growing vegetable crops and grass in interrow spacing of the trees.
