DISTRIBUTION OF MYCOPLASMA-LIKE ORGANISMS IN APRICOT TREES AFFECTED BY APRICOT CHLOROTIC LEAF ROLL |

| Abstract:
The technique of fluorochromate dye with DAPI (4'–6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) has been applied in detecting MLOs (mycoplasma-like organisms) and in follow-up throughout the year of MLOs distribution in apricot trees diseased by ACLR (apricot chlorotic leaf roll). The results obtained confirmed the little reliability of this test for early diagnosis of mycoplasma-like diseases in fruit trees, because of the low concentration and uneven distribution of MLOs within diseased trees. In contrast, the DAPI test has proved fairly useful for observation throughout the year of MLOs distribution on different parts of apricot trees diseased with ACLR. Over the winter and the spring, MLOs were detected only in roots and twigs from the previous year growth. Presence of MLOs in new growth shoots could not be detected until the beginning of the summer. | |
