Abstract:
The variety Búlida alone accounsts for 81% of the Murcia production and more than 50% of Spain's.
For a selection of this variety, about 20.000 Búlida trees on Pollizo plum stock were initially chosen.
Over 3 years the trees were inspected and those showing some abnormality were discarded.
By the end of the third year, 9 trees showing the best performance were chosen.
These 9 trees were infected by CLSV (chlorotic leaf spot virus). To eliminate these viruses the method of shoot-tip grafting in vitro was assayed.
In addition, we obtained 7 clones, out of 9, free of CLSV by conventional budding on apricot seedlings in summer, taking advantage of the irregular distribution of CLSV within infected apricot trees of most clones.
