ISHS Acta Horticulturae 191: Symposium on Protected Cultivation of Solanacea in Mild Winter Climates

DRIP IRRIGATION: AN EFFECTIVE TOOL AGAINST PHYTOPHTHORA CAPSICI ROOT ROT ON PROTECTED PEPPER CULTIVATION.

Authors:   M. Sirjacobs, L. Pussemier, M. Gerard, G. Goore bi Gole, A. Ayache
Abstract:
During winter 1982, Phytophthora root and crown rot manifested an outbreak in the main pepper producing area of Morocco. The effects of various irrigation systems on disease propagation have been studied. The gravity irrigation system enhanced the development of P. capsici to a greater extent than the sprinkler system. The drip system, however, was not transmissive at all and proved to be a very efficient control method.

P. capsici was totally absent in previously infested soil after a five month summer fallow.
