Abstract:
In simple plastic installations temperature conditions are rather extreme due to restrictions as to air-space and ventilation when compared with modern greenhouses.
It is questionable if irrigation technology based on the measurement of global radiation is applicable in forcing under plastics.
Evapotranspiration losses of the determinate sweet pepper variety Fehérözön Super was studied by means of lysimeters and a balance method in an unheated plastic house of 7.5 x 50 m in Kecskemét /Hungary/ in June - September 1985.
The equation Y = -3.939 + 1.83x1 + 0.196x2 recommended for the estimation of the daily water consumption was determined by a multiple regression analysis where x1 = global radiation measured outdoors /KJ · cm-2 · day-1/ and x2 = indoor maximum temperature /°C/ in the early afternoon.
