Abstract:
The potential for improvement of post-harvest attributes of tomato fruit, while recognized by plant breeders, has not been widely explored in applied breeding programs.
Recent reports have suggested the potential of the non-ripening mutants rin and nor to extend storage life.
The inferior color and flavor attributes of genotypes containing such genes are serious obstacles to their successful exploitation.
Strategies to genetically overcome these deficiencies are examined.
