Abstract:
Rice hulls, sand or peat moss based media used for growing tomato transplants, induced early flowering and higher number of flowers than control.
Early and total yield were also increased due to the effect of those media.
No significant differences were found between the most promising treatments of rice hulls, sand or peat moss.
It is concluded that locally produced sand or rice hulls based media can be used in Egypt instead of peat moss or soil for tomato seedling production.
