ISHS Acta Horticulturae 190: Symposium on Tomato Production on Arid Land

EFFECT OF AMOUNT, METHOD AND TIME OF APPLICATION OF NITROGEN ON MARKETABLE YIELD OF TOMATO

Author:   A. A. Taha
Abstract:
Study was initiated at Shambat Research Station to investigate the effect of level, method and time of application of nitrogen fertilizer on yield of fresh market tomato.

Under the conditions of this study nitrogen as urea had no significant effect on the yield of tomato var. Ace VF. However, the influence of the method of application and the interaction of nitrogen level and method was highly significant with 96 kg/ha N applied as split-half preplant incorporated and half about four weeks later giving the best results. (7.66 t/ha).

These yields are generally low which is due to reduction in yield by leaf curl disease.
