CUT ROSE TRENDS IN JAPAN

Abstract:
Recently cut rose production under cover is increasing about 5 % every year. Because of the change of the consumer trend, orchids and roses have risen in popularity. On the other hand, chrysanthemum and carnation are out of fashion excluding the spray type. Although the value of cut roses in 1984 was third, it will soon occupy the second position as a cut flower with in a few years. The amount of the number of cut roses produced was 300 million in 1983 and the value was 14 000 million yen (60 million US $).
