TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN SEED AND COATINGS - NOW AND IN THE FUTURE

Author:   J.W. Breukink
Abstract:
We would like to discuss in some detail the subject of seed technology and the development in seed coating techniques that have taken place at our company over the past 15 years and that are likely to occur in the years to come.

Since the introduction of the SPLIT PILL and SPLITKOTE coating processes the demands customers make upon seed have changed considerably.

The development of improved precision seeders and the significant growth of the plant raising industry entail a constant demand for ever better precision seed.

Generally, ever higher demands are being made upon the seed's germination, vitality and sowing ability.

For Royal Sluis the introduction of the SPLIT PILL and SPLITKOTE coating processes was the starting point of very detailed and costly research aimed at the production of top quality seed.
