ISHS Acta Horticulturae 184: I International Symposium on Computer Modelling in Fruit Research and Orchard Management

FRUPRO, A BIO-ECONOMIC SIMULATION MODEL FOR APPLE ORCHARDS

Author:   F. Winter
Abstract:
FRUPRO computes biological and economic parameters for a 1 ha orchard based on 28 input parameters. The disposition is the same as used for the 'Bavendorf Crop Forecast Model':

The capacity of a tree is calculated as a function of age and some parameters affecting the vegetative growth as area, cultivar and rootstock.

The fruitset density can be defined to be normal related to area and cultivar, as a sequence of a couple of years or as any wanted value.

The fruitsize will be calculated to be typical for area, cultivar and rootstock or can be defined to be n mm bigger or smaller then normal.

Other important bio-technological inputs are planting system and final tree height.

Economic parameters as costs and prices, wages, rent of land, rate of interest, are variable inputs as well.

Outputs are the yearly elements of yields, hours of labour, costs, returns, grossmargin, profit.

The result can be plotted on screen or paper.
