Abstract:
A computer model was developed to analyze orchard replanting.
The model consists of two components which work together to form a computerized decision aid.
The first component is a simulation model designed to produce an after-tax cash flow for each year in the economic life of four planting systems (varying by tree density and size). The second component is a dynamic programming model which uses the after-tax cash flows from the simulator to determine the optimal time and the optimal planting system.
The model operates interactively on the IBM 370 computer, operating system VM/SP, CMS.
