Abstract:
A demographic model for simulating the annual growth pattern of a Golden Delicious apple tree is described.
A tree is assumed to consist of a perennial frame with populations of leaves, shoots, fruits, and roots developing on it.
The dynamics of these populations is simulated as time invariant distributed processes.
Compared to an earlier version the use of a multi-season growth curve facilitated initialization of the model and made it more general.
New respiration and photosynthesis functions improved the structure of the model and permit efficient linking with populations on higher trophic levels.
