Abstract:
The recognition of species belonging to the subgenus Eucitrus (C. medica L., C. limon (L.) Burm.f., C. reticulata Blanco, C. grandis Osbeck, C. paradisi Macf., C. aurantifolia Christm., C. sinensis Osbeck, C. aurantium L., C. tachibana Tan., C. indica Tan) and subgenus Papeda (C. ichangensis Swing., C. latipes Tan., C. micrantha Wester, C. celebica Koord., C. macroptera Mont, C. hystrix D.C.) of the genus Citrus and Microcitrus papuana - considered as a parent for some Citrus species - was determined by means of their leaf phenolic compounds on TLC. The chromatographic patterns of the subgenera Eucitrus and Papeda reflected the characteristics of those, in general.
The relationships among the species of both subgenera, Eucitrus and Papeda, were plotted as dendrograms prepared from the evaluated data of phenolic compounds by using cluster analysis.
