| Abstract:
The cytogenetic phenomena associated with domestication, namely founder effect, inbreeding, clonal propagation, interspecific hybridisation and polyploidy, are outlined. Their effects on variation patterns, and hence the difficulties they pose for taxonomists, are discussed, including problems of the diverse levels of taxonomic recognition given to domestication itself. | |
