ISHS Acta Horticulturae 181: III International Symposium on Postharvest Physiology of Ornamentals

EFFECT OF DELEAFING ON QUALITY OF CUT ROSES

Author:   E.J. Woltering
Abstract:
Removal of leaves and thorns from the lower 15–20 cm of cut rose stems, with a manual deleafing tool, resulted in a higher number of flowers with "bent-neck". Use of a flower preservative or a bactericide effectively alleviated the observed quality loss.
