Abstract:
The growth and cropping performance of a number of compact mutations of the vigorous apple cultivar Bramley's Seedling over a ten-year-period are described.
Changes in vigour, leaf and branch shape, flowering date and colour, and fruit weight and size have been noted.
The best compact clones appear very stable and give improved yield to tree size ratios and better storage behaviour than normal trees.
