INFLUENCE OF THE GROWTH RETARDANT PACLOBUTRAZOL ON GROWTH OF FRUIT TREES |

| Abstract:
Foliar application of paclobutrazol to apple cv. Tsugaru on Malus prunifolia and soil application of PP333 to apple cv. Fuji on M.26 and cv. Golden Delicious on M.7 had large effects on total extension growth. Foliar or soil application of PP333 to apple cv. Starking Delicious on M. prunifolia or M. 26 and soil application of PP333 to cv. Jonathan had no effects on total extension growth. Negative relationship was recognized between yield efficiencies and shoot growth on stubs after summer pruning in cv. Fuji on M.26 apple trees. Foliar application of PP333 to peach trees increased the percentage of excellent fancy fruits harvested from the basal part of tree compared with those of untreated trees. Soil application on PP333 to cv. Napoleon cherry on Colt rootstock reduced significantly the amount of shoot growth in the year of treatment. | |
