Abstract:
Direct and indirect involvement of hormones in the control of water transport through unstressed plants is examined.
Since hormones and their interactions modify the plant architecture, water uptake and transpiration are affected.
Auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, abscisic acid, and ethylene are directly involved at root and stomata level controlling water movements through the cells.
The hormones affect the permeability of membranes and the cell turgor.
