Abstract:
Aliphatic polyamines, a new class of plant growth substances, present in all the plants examined to date, act on cell division processes.
Polyamines arise from basic amino acids through decarboxylation.
Their mechanism of action is related to their ability to bind to nucleic acids and phospholipids.
Their rapid synthesis in proliferating cells and their traslocability is in favour of a their classification as hormones.
