ISHS Acta Horticulturae 179: V International Symposium on Growth Regulators in Fruit Production

THE EFFECT OF EXTENSION GROWTH AND FLOWER DENSITY ON FRUIT SET IN OLIVE TREES IN CONTROLLED CLIMATE

Author:   G. Bongi
Abstract:
Clustering multivariate analysis of growth parameters and flower distribution in Olive reduced to three main variable clusters, 'push', 'branch', 'floral density'. A highly significant stepwise multiple regression was fitted using push and floral density function variables on fruit set. The model was then causally verified using model variations through growth regulators which modified some vegetation variables; on treated branches it was found a parallel variation in the independent variable fruit set, which sustained the model.
