Abstract:
An apple meadow orchard was permanently established and treated for a 3-year period with Daminozide + CEPA or paclobutrazol spray in May, June or September.
In the May-June treatment fruit bud differentiation and yield were enhanced in Yellospur/M 26 by both chemicals and in Ruby Spur Red Delicious by SADH + CEPA only, whereas fruit size and skin lightness were reduced by both sprays in both cultivars.
In the September treatment, paclobutrazol delayed bloom and reduced fruit bud number and yield.
