Abstract:
Cultivars of the European plum (Prunus domestica L.) flower early in the year at a time when the risk of frost damage to blossoms is still high and when weather conditions are often unfavourable for pollination and fruit set.
Prolonging dormancy and/or delaying flowering of plums should, in many seasons, reduce the risk of frost damage and increase the probability of good fruit set.
