ROSES GROWN IN ROCKWOOL BLOCKS

Author:   O. Bøvre
Abstract:
The world's first experiment with blocks of mineralwool as growing medium for horticultural purpose started at Hornum in spring 1969.

The purpose was to have a growing medium which did not decompose, and to find the best density of the blocks. Blocks of different density, varying from 40 to 200 kg/m3 measuring 15x15x15 cm, approximately 3,4 litre were set up in a trail.

The best result was obtained in 80 kg/m3 blocks.
