ISHS Acta Horticulturae 177: IV International Symposium on Flower Bulbs

STUDY ON TULIP FIRE CAUSED BY BOTRYTIS TULIPAE (LIB.) LIND IN BULGARIA

Authors:   R. Bachvarova, S. Dimitrov, I. Filipova
Abstract:
In 1983–1985 experiments in laboratory and field conditions were carried out on symptoms of Botrytis tulipae, culture-morphological characteristics and pathogenicity of the agent.

Two moderate and one strong pathogenicity isolates were established.

Potato Dextrose Agar and Chapek Dox are favourable for the formation of sclerotia but they do not form on Malt Extract Agar.

Darkness favours the formation of sclerotia and day-light - the formation of spores.
