NARCISSUS PROPAGATION BY CHIPPING: EFFECT OF A RANGE OF PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS ON BULBIL YIELD AND LENGTH

Authors:   G.J. Flint, P.G. Alderson
Abstract:
Depending on the concentrations used and the time of application, plant growth regulators affected bulbil regeneration from 1/16 narcissus bulb chips. Treatment of chips with ethephon tri-iodo benzoic acid (TIBA), ancymidol, tetracyclasis, M + B 25105, chlormequat chloride (CCC) and paclobutrazol resulted in an increased number of bulbils per chip, but individual bulbil size was generally reduced. Maleic hydrazide and TIBA (1 000 mg l-1) resulted in fewer and smaller bulbils than the untreated control.
