Abstract:
The flowering percentage of Dutch iris increased and the percentage of non-flowering three-leaved plants decreased proportional to the duration of exposure to ethylene at ca 10 μl/l air or to the number of ethylene applications.
Propylene, acetylene and carbon monoxide had the same effect as ethylene only at concentrations of 1 000 – 10 000 μl/l air.
Soaking of bulbs in solutions of ethephon or benzylaminopurine was a little less promotive than exposure to ethylene.
