ISHS Acta Horticulturae 177: IV International Symposium on Flower Bulbs

THE EFFECT OF GIBBERELLIC ACID AND ABSCISIC ACID ON TULIP PISTIL GROWTH IN VITRO

Authors:   L. Kawa, M. Saniewski
Abstract:
Pistil explants isolated from uncooled and cooled tulip bulbs cv. Gudoshnik were cultured on the Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, supplemented with GA, ABA and their mixture.

GA had a strong stimulatory effect on the increase of length and fresh weight of pistils isolated from uncooled bulbs and a lesser effect in the case of cooled bulbs.

The addition of ABA to the medium alone or together with GA significantly inhibited the growth of pistil explants from both uncooled and cooled bulbs.
