Abstract:
Primary infections of tulip breaking virus (TBV) and lily symptomless virus (LSV) can be readily detected in scales from lily bulbs by means of ELISA. The reliability of the test does not notably change during the period of november to march, when large numbers of bulb samples are tested for absence of LSV and two types of TBV by the Bulb Inspection Service.
Bulbtest shortly after lifting the bulbs should be avoided.
Both ELISA-readings and reliability of the test improve during a three weeks storing period of the bulbs.
Large differences in virus concentration are observed between separate scales from individual lily bulbs.
