Abstract:
The curling of Anemone coronaria due to Colletotrichum gloeosporiodes appeared as a new disease in the south of France in 1977 and spread quickly to all areas.
The pathogen was introduced with infested corms from Holland.
The symptoms are characteristics: distortion of leaves and stem flowers frequently followed by a tissue necrosis.
In the weather conditions of the south of France the incubation can last from 4 to 6 days during the first weeks after the plantation.
In that way, cultures can be deeply spoiled in 4 to 6 months.
In most cases, the pathogen is localized at the apex of the corms and sometimes it can be found inside only in the layer cells of the epidermis.
This location makes is its elimination possible by dipping the corms before planting in a fungicide solution.
The best result is obtained with 48 h dipping in carbendazim + mancozeb (6.7 % – 53.4 %). After plantation abondant spraying every eight days with carbendazim + captafol is very effective.
