Author:   E. Szwonek
Abstract:
15 1 containers were filled with different doses of ammonium nitrate treated soils and set in the plastic tunnel. Butter type lettuce cv. As 44 spinach cv. Matador were under survey.

During vegetation soil and plants were sampled. In accordance to the doses of nitrogen the concentrations of nitrates increased in index parts of plants. The concentration of in edible parts of lettuce and spinach was also independent on nitrogen content in the soil.

The nitrite concentration in edible parts of plants was not influenced by nitrogen applied and did not exceed 0.5 mg/kg of fresh matter.
