ISHS Acta Horticulturae 175: Symposium on Physiology of Productivity of Subtropical and Tropical Tree Fruits

THE GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF SELECTED DURIAN CLONES UNDER THE PLANTATION SYSTEM AT SERDANG, MALAYSIA

Authors:   B.M. Hasan, O. Yaacob
Abstract:
A study on the growth and productivity of durian (Durio zibethinus, Murr.) was undertaken using the 10 ha durian orchard established in 1969 as part of the farm development at the Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang. Over a fifteen year period, some trees selected for this study have attained a crown size of more than 1000 cubic meters. Although some of them are bigger in size, they appear to be less productive. The influence of unknown rootstock is one possible cause of irregular growth vigour and productivity of selected trees grafted with the same scions from three clones.
