Abstract:
A system has been designed that permits the interfacing of existing microprocessor based greenhouse environment controllers to a central control computer.
The central control computer was specially designed to interface to up to 64 environment controllers, a weather station and a microcomputer equipped with two disk drives.
The central control program imposes enhanced control algorithms on each environment controller, displays greenhouse operating status graphically on a display terminal and permits data logging on magnetic disk.
A prototype of the system has been constructed and tested in a commercial greenhouse.
The system has been proven to be reliable and user friendly.
